Par le disque : Fats Domino (fan de toujours), Chuck, Jerry Lee, Little Richard, Bo Diddley…
La soul aussi avec Joe Tex, Otis Redding, Aretha, Solomon Burke, Ike & Tina…
Et surtout par les concerts : j’ai eu la chance de voir Hampton, Bechet, Armstrong, Kid Ory, George Lewis, Sammy Price, Basie, Duke,
Joe Turner… (pour les plus marquants).
Dans les années 60,
les tournées légendaires de l’American Folk Blues Festival (pas manqué un seul concert) sont une véritable révélation : Muddy, Otis
Spann, John Lee Hooker, Sonny Boy, Koko Taylor, Champion Jack Dupree, Magic Sam, etc, etc…
Aussi Ray Charles, Howlin’ Wolf, Erroll Garner, Earl Hines, Willie « the Lion », Eddie Boyd, Curtis Jones, Clifton Chenier, BB King…
Autre découverte, le gospel, concert extraordinaire avec le Reverend Kelsey, les Original Five Blind Boys…
Egalement les Harlem Swing Dancers : Baby Laurence, Jimmy Slyde, Buster Brown, Chuck Greene, Illinois Jacquet, Milt Buckner…
Fidèle lecteur de la revue Soul Bag dès le N° 1 (décembre 1968) qui me tient au courant de toute l’actualité du blues.
